New Mexico’s lakes are excellent summer destinations for families, couples and friends — you name it! That’s why Abiquiu Lake is my absolute favorite place in the world. It has everything to offer like cliff diving, fishing and hiking. The lake is located a little more than an hour north of Santa Fe, which makes it super easy to plan a quick summer getaway. If you love photography, this is also a great destination for you. The drive up is absolutely stunning. You can capture fine panoramic views of the Cerro Pedernal from the dam or the red sandstone formations on Hwy 84 and adjacent to historical Pedernal Mountain to the south on Hwy 96.
I recently took a trip to the lake for some fun under the sun. Check out my favorite moments at Abiquiu Lake below.
