Audra Davie & Brian DeSpain

Hotel Albuquerque at Old Town is celebrating this Week of Love by spotlighting three couples who are getting married here this month.

Audra Davie and Brian DeSpain met as children in 1987, when their fathers coached football together at Texas A&M. For Audra, it wasn’t love at first sight, according to Brian’s mother, Peggy.

The pair reconnected as adults in December 2011 after Audra’s father – University of New Mexico Football Head Coach Bob Davie – hired Brian, and Brian was sent to pick up Audra and her mother, Joanne, at the airport in Albuquerque.

During the ride, Audra’s mother asked Brian about a wife or girlfriend, and pointed out Audra’s cute blushes. Later that day, Brian drove Audra to a job interview during a snowstorm, and Audra started to plan a move to the city soon after.

Just weeks after the pair started dating, in May of 2012, Audra announced to her brother that she was going to marry Brian. Brian proposed in May of 2013. They will celebrate their wedding today at Hotel Albuquerque.
