If you have traveled through The Land of Enchantment, you’ll know that our Southwestern hospitality is something to brag about. What many visitors do not know is that New Mexico has become one of the most Lesbian, Gay, Bi-sexual and Transgender-friendly states in the Southwest. With the New Mexico Supreme Court extending marriage rights to same-sex couples, it has opened up many doors for our local businesses and economy. The state can look forward to a bright future with an estimated $60.4 million that will be brought in over the first three years; however, besides the money the LGBT brings many new faces to New Mexico. As one of the only same-sex states in the southwest and western region of the U.S., many couples are planning their romantic getaway around things to do in New Mexico.
Thanks to New Mexico’s leading LGBT resource guide, Pride Guide, New Mexico will host its very first Lesbian, Gay, Bi-sexual and Transgender Wedding & Honeymoon Expo. In hopes of providing the best possible same-sex marriage ceremonies, the event will take place at one of the most romantic places in town, Hotel Albuquerque on May 4, 2014. Featuring vendors from cake and catering to finance and insurance help, the wedding expo will include many businesses that support and advertise toward the LGBT community. A portion of the profits made from the Expo will benefit Equality New Mexico.
